Gold Price Today in Singapore
The live table shows the gold price in Singapore dollars for 999 (24K) gold per gram, 10 grams, ounce, 100 grams and kilogram, plus 916 and 750 per gram. Investment-grade bars and coins are exempt from GST in Singapore, so dealer prices for bullion sit close to these figures plus a small premium; jewellery adds workmanship and 9% GST.

How gold is priced in Singapore
Singapore has no import duty on gold and a free-floating, heavily traded currency, so local bullion prices follow the world market closely. Dealers take the spot price in US dollars, convert it at the live USD/SGD rate, and quote a buy price and a sell price around it. The gap between the two, and the premium over spot, depends on the product: kilobars and 100-gram bars from well-known refiners carry thin premiums, while small bars, coins and gift items cost more per gram.
Jewellers price differently. A goldsmith's counter in Chinatown or Little India shows a daily rate per gram for 999 and 916 gold, then adds a workmanship charge per piece or per gram. The 916 rate is usually set a little above the pure gold content, because the alloy and the jeweller's margin are built into it.
GST: bullion versus jewellery
Since 1 October 2012, investment precious metals (IPM) have been exempt from GST in Singapore. To qualify, gold must generally be at least 99.5% pure and in the form of bars, wafers or coins that meet the conditions set by IRAS. This made Singapore a regional storage and trading hub for bullion.
Jewellery is not IPM. Rings, chains and 916 bangles are standard-rated, so GST (9% since 1 January 2024) is charged on the full selling price, including the gold value and the workmanship. Tourists can claim a GST refund on eligible purchases from participating retailers under the Tourist Refund Scheme, subject to its minimum spend and conditions.
Units and purities used locally

Where people buy gold in Singapore
- Bullion dealers sell bars and coins with published buy and sell prices, often with vault storage. Look for clear buy-back terms and the refiner's assay certificate.
- Banks have offered gold savings accounts and physical bars to customers; product ranges change, so check the bank's current offer.
- Jewellers cluster in Chinatown (South Bridge Road and People's Park), along Serangoon Road in Little India, and in malls island-wide. Mustafa Centre is a long-standing destination for 22K Indian-style jewellery.
Worked example (illustrative)
Suppose the parity price is S$5,380 per ounce and a dealer sells a 1-ounce coin at a 2% premium, while a jeweller sells a 10 g 916 chain at S$158 per gram plus S$120 workmanship:
| Purchase | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 1 oz bullion coin | S$5,380 × 1.02 | S$5,487.60 |
| GST on the coin | IPM exempt | S$0.00 |
| 916 chain, gold | 10 g × S$158 | S$1,580.00 |
| Workmanship | fixed | S$120.00 |
| GST on the chain | 9% of S$1,700 | S$153.00 |
| Chain total | S$1,853.00 |
All figures are examples, not today's prices. The jewellery price calculator runs the same sum with your numbers.
Tips before buying
- Compare the dealer's sell price with the parity figure above to see the premium you pay.
- Ask what the dealer would pay you back today; the buy-sell spread is your real cost of owning a small bar.
- For jewellery, get the gold weight, purity and workmanship listed separately on the receipt.
- Products below 99.5% purity, including 916 coins and jewellery, generally do not qualify for the IPM exemption.
